Day Trip from Fes to Taza Friouato cave


Our team is offering an. It’s an exceptional opportunity to enjoy fresh cool weather and wonderful views. Also experience the atmosphere inside a 300 meters cave underground, not forgetting to capture photos for lifetime.

We’ll start our destination towards Taza city, enjoying the wonderful and amazing views of the corridor between the Rif Mountains and Middle Atlas mountains. Afterwards, when we arrive to Taza (one of the oldest cities in Morocco, founded in 18 th century) we’ll visit the old medina as well as its beautiful historical monument like; Drouj Bab Jamâa, Sour moulawlab, Al Machwar, Jamâa Lkber and Finally Bab Ri7 from where you can see unrepeated sights of the amazing Mountains.

Next, we’ll have our lunch meal in a local traditional restaurant in Taza and then in the afternoon, we’ll drive to Friouato cave. The latter is considered as one of the deepest caves. Its ends stretch to about 6 kilometers underground, we’ll go down together for about hundreds of stairs to find a tiny opening which leads to a river that is believed to flow near the Grottes of Chiker.

The temperature inside the cave is low and there are wet slippery clay rocks.Make sure to wear water-resistant shoes and warm clothes; otherwise, rent a miner’s outfit (helmet with lamp, water shoes…) from the local shop outside the cave. When you get in, you’d better follow your teams’ advices in order to reach the point safely; Be Careful where you’re stepping and enjoy the silence in the cave’s darkness. While you’re downstairs take a look above and you’ll see a breathtaking sight and see the sun illuminating the stairs from the large hole at the top.

To conclude our Day Trip to Friouato, our team will guide you to see the National Park of Tazekka, It was created to protect the natural resources at the top from the mountain Jbel Tazekka. In the evening, we’ll take you back to Fez city; drop you off at your accommodation, Train station or Airport.
